Distribution of Sulfur-Containing Compounds in NGL Products by Three Simulators

In the February 2010 tip of the month (TOTM) we presented the distribution and concentration of sulfur-containing compounds in an NGL Fractionation (NF) plant using HYSYS with the Peng-Robinson Equation of State (PR EoS). In this TOTM we will present the distribution and concentration of the sulfur-containing compounds in the same NF plant using ProMax and VMGSim both using the PR EoS. These two simulation results will be compared with the HYSYS results. The simulators’ built-in binary interaction parameters were used in this study.
For some of the sulfur-containing compounds, there are notable disagreements between these simulators in predicting distribution in different product streams!
