Curtin's Department of Petroleum Engineering and PetroSkills have developed a partnership which will enable approved participants of PetroSkills Graduate Training Courses to obtain formal academic certification at Masters level for selected courses completed with PetroSkills.
Students accepted into the program will enroll for a Master of Technology (Petroleum Technology) with Curtin University of Technology, and will choose between the following streams:
- Facilities Engineering (commencing August 2008, with selected units)
- Reservoir and Production Engineering (commencing January 2009)
Assessment of selected PetroSkills courses will provide approximately half the credit total required to complete the MTech in Petroleum Technology. The remaining credit total will be obtained through workplace-based projects monitored by Curtin University. The program is designed to enable individuals working full-time in industry, to enroll part-time in the Master of Technology (Petroleum Technology) and complete course materials over a four year period. All assessments will be issued and submitted in the online environment using Blackboard, available through the Curtin University Website. Units in the course structure will be available for enrollment at various times in the year, enabling students to select a study period most convenient to themselves, to complete the required assessments, and earn university credit towards a Master of Technology (Petroleum Technology).
